If the Griffon was considered a Legendary mount, the Roller Beetle would be something of an Ascended mount; not as time and gold consuming as the higher tier, but not as simple to get as a double click. Skyscale is arguably the "best" mount, simply by sheer practicality. If you want to get from point A to point B in the shortest time, regardless of obstacles, the Skyscale will get you there with 0 issues. It's slower than most other mounts, but that's the tradeoff for the ability to effectively ignore most terrain.
Unfortunately the fact of the matter is that Roller Beetle is just faster than any other land-based mount (though also takes some time to learn to control). There's nothing that can be done to a Raptor or any other core PoF mount (excluding Griffon) to make it go that fast on a straightaway - though you will still be at a significant advantage
Located a wall while on a different mount. Mount up on beetle. Wait 10 secs for endurance to charge. Aggroed nearby mobs. Either you kite, or get dismounted and clear said mobs. If dismounted, wait for OOC, mount up and you guessed it, wait another 10 secs or so. Break wall.

But that was hard with the same left hand. So I bound R (drift) to middle button on the mouse (Mouse 3). And within 2 tries, I got under a minute! When I came around corners, my left hand would hold the WASD direction I needed to turn and my right hand would mash Mouse 3 (Drift) furiously. And it worked!

Notes. Prior to the June 28th, 2018 game update, the alpha beetle was a Veteran Giant Spotted Beetle. The Giant Beetle must be killed in order for the Giant Spotted Beetle to spawn. The whole point of any mount is that it doesn't render another mount useless. If the Roller Beetle's endurance bar would be full the moment you mount it, nobody would take out their Raptor anymore. Also, don't forget that the beetle accelerates when you go downhill, regardless of special mount skills.

Even though I clip walls or even ram into a full stop on turns, the beetle kills on the straight-aways & downhill sections. I thought the raptor would be a no brainer, but I got smoked by two beetle riders by at ~20 seconds. So I tried the beetle on a time trial and bettered my best time by about 16 seconds.
